One-Pan Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skillet

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage, sliced (Andouille sausage works well)
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade, see below)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (optional, depending on the saltiness of the Cajun seasoning)

Homemade Cajun Seasoning (optional if making your own):

  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade) to coat evenly.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  3. Add the seasoned shrimp and sliced sausage to the skillet. Sauté until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, and the sausage is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the peppers are tender-crisp.
