One-Pan Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Skillet
Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 lb smoked sausage, sliced (Andouille sausage works well)
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (any color)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade, see below)
- Salt and pepper to taste (optional, depending on the saltiness of the Cajun seasoning)
Homemade Cajun Seasoning (optional if making your own):
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- In a bowl, season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning (store-bought or homemade) to coat evenly.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
- Add the seasoned shrimp and sliced sausage to the skillet. Sauté until the shrimp turns pink and opaque, and the sausage is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the sliced bell peppers and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, until the peppers are tender-crisp.
Serve: Enjoy this flavorful dish with microwaved rice or as is.
